Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) is a local chapter of the global movement Transparency International. It is dedicated to the fight of corruption and the promotion of good governance.
The organisation is seeking qualified individuals to fill the following outlined position :
1. Executive Director
The position holder is expected to provide leadership in the attainment of the strategic vision for TI-Z as outlined in its strategic plan 2018 to 2022 alongside contributing to the movement wide strategy 2020, Together Against Corruption .
The position holder is also expected to contribute in positioning TI-Z as a proactive, sustainable and capacity development strategic partner in areas on anti corruption and good governance.
The Executive Director of TI-Z plays a strategic leadership and management role at TI-Z Secretariat. He or She supervises a group of programme specialists and administrators in implementing the Chapter’s Strategic Plan.
The ED additionally serves as Secretary to the Board of Directors, and participates in international and regional activities of Transparency International.
The position holder will
Be accountable for delivering on the current 5-year Organizational Strategy (2018 2022) and responsible for developing the next 5-year (2023-2027) TI-Z strategy, aligned and in sync with the Transparency International Strategy as well as the local context.
Be responsible for reporting to the Board of Directors and the General Membership
Develop partnerships with civil society organisations, movements, relevant government institutions and embassies necessary for the harmonious implementation of the organisations activities.
Ensure strong linkages and collaboration with other capacity building initiatives within and outside TI-Z and globally.
The Executive Director is expected to lead a sustainable and effective organisation based on motivated and committed staff.
The position holder is therefore expected to
Provide overall leadership and management based on participation, clear sharing of power, inclusion, dialogue and transparency.
Stimulate a culture of highly motivated & committed people, professionalism, cooperation and accountability in the whole organisation at all levels.
Support, guide and supervise the senior management, middle management and staff in their execution of the TI-Z activities.
Overall responsible for the financial sustainability of the Chapter.
Initiate and supervise TI-Z programme development in accordance with changes in the organisation and in the external environment, e.
g. developments and trends in leadership of progressive civil society organisations, movements and networks.
Ensure that TI-Z operates in compliance with the agreements with donors, the Transparency International guiding principles as well as any pertinent legislation, regulations, and rules including the TI-Z policies.
This includes overseeing of financial management and budgeting procedures, HR management and Reporting in close cooperation with the Managers;
the Executive Director has the overall employment and disciplinary authority of these staff members and has the overall responsibility for safety or security issues.
Be a visible leader to the staff of TI-Z, engaging with the staff in alignment with the core values of the organisation.
3. TI-Z Representative
TI-Z benefits financially and strategically from a strong image as a reliable and relevant anti corruption crusader as well as partner to civil society in the region and globally.
The position holder therefore will :
Represent the interests of TI-Z in relevant fora and promote good relations and dialogue with development partners, media, organisations, and movements to ensure increased visibility of TI-Z.
Build and maintain relations with government authorities and institutions in Zambia and beyond (i.e. SADC, AU etc.)
Perform ceremonial duties whenever requested.
Represent TI-Z in all relevant fora in relation to local community requests.
Represent TI-Z at any other levels as assigned by the Board.
4. Fundraiser & Business Developer
We expect TI-Z to be financially sustainable and grow its influence within the civil society space. You will therefore :
Ensure the development of a funding strategy for TI-Z; including donor scoping, development of high-quality proposals and ensuring effective implementation and reporting of externally funded proposals.
Build strategic relationship with potential donor agencies, foundations and other high value donors.
Ensure that TI-Z participation in different fora contributes to the financial sustainability of the organisation by show casing the important and relevance of TI-Z work.
The Executive Director shall report to the Board
The Executive Director shall have 2 reportees Programmes Manager and the Finance & Administration Manager.
Condition of Work Office based
Education and Professional background
As minimum requirements, the Executive Director is expected to have :
A master’s degree in social science, project management, law, business administration or in another relevant field. A PhD will be an added advantage
Minimum 10 years working experience of which at least 5 years in a senior management position incl. people management preferably with responsibility of middle managers
Solid experience in and sound knowledge of governance, leadership, accountability and progressive civil society and social movements
Robust experience in strategy development and training management
Proven strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Comprehensive working experience from an African context and strong relations with civil society networks in Africa and globally
Furthermore, to fill this position, you expected to be :

Fluency in English.
