Project Manager SKILLZ Ref No. PM / SK / 28 / 01 / 20
Reports to Principle Investigator. The Project Manager will act as the central catalyst of all activity conducted within the study including overseeing the development of all data collection tools and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), management of staff, liaison with community partners and key stakeholders, developing reports to funders, holding accountability to balance the budget.
In addition, the Program Manager will coordinate communication between all investigators, as well as developments of abstracts and papers.
This an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and agile program manager to join an exciting and innovative study working with a team of local and international staff to answer critical questions in the space of adolescent health.
Develops project plans, targets, timelines, and deliverables
Leads the study team to meet all milestones on the study work-plan
Develops and manages project budget
Ensures compliance with NIH financial guidelines and reporting requirements
Ensures timely financial reporting to funder
Leads the recruitment of any new staff for the project as required
Coordinates with global team on all issues relating to the study
Acts as the focal person for all problem solving & initiatives related to the study
Ensures timely delivery of all reports to the funder, strategic partners, Ministry of Health, Ministry of General Education as well as regulatory as well as internal review boards and others as required.
Mentors project teams and identifies training and capacity building opportunities for staff.
Ensures all study activities are in line with protocol, requirements of local and international review boards and flags any concerns to PIs
Takes a leading role in grant writing and proposal development
Maintains Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and Human Subject Protection (HSP) certification
Takes a leading role in protocol development
Ensures all relevant ethics approvals are up to date, timely submission and addresses any IRB queries
Supports project teams with developing SOPs, checklists, interview and focus group guides, psychometric and behavioral surveys and questionnaires, study registers, forms and other documents
Supports project teams with developing community sensitization, advocacy and media documents
Helps facilitate meetings with internal and external partners to ensure effective study implementation, as necessary
Master’s Degree in Public Health (MPH) or equivalent degree
At least four years of experience in managing large cohort studies for research, with at least one year spent on the ground in a developing country environment
Previous experience or demonstrated interest or engagement with issues related to adolescent sexual and reproductive health
Prior experience in grant writing and proposal development
Qualitative and / or mixed methods research capabilities
Knowledge of developing psychometric survey instruments
Understanding of HIV epidemiology, diagnostics, and clinical care in Zambia
Experience in project reporting for bilateral or multilateral donors
Excellent communication skills in written English required
Excellent budgeting, project planning, and computer skills
Excellent team building and mentorship skills
Active certification in Human Subjects Protection and Good Clinical Practice
Data management and programming skills (e.g. tables and macros) in MS Access, MS Excel
Willingness to work in a fast-pace environment and manage many competing demands require
Quantitative analysis skills in STATA, SAS or R
Qualitative coding skills in NVivo, Atlas.ti or Dedoose
