WeForest Zambia is a local NGO that is looking to expand its team with a new professional M&E Officer who will work in a dynamic team on our objective towards co-managing Katanino Forest Reserve and increasing forest cover in Zambia .
Achieving this objective will entail forest restoration through assisted natural regeneration; local community livelihood improvement& development;
and gender equitable development. The M&E Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager and will mainly be active in the field in Katanino, Masaiti district.
Conduct socio-economic surveys to assess the baseline status of the local community in Katanino and follow-up monitoring
Conduct forest inventories to assess the baseline status of the forest in Katanino Forest Reserve and the surrounding communities and follow-up monitoring
Collect field data, digitize and analyse them
Help in delivering training among the local communities in Katanino and at the district level
Perform monitoring and evaluation duties to the highest standard
Help in project document development (including translation to local languages)
Assist in grant applications where and when needed
Participate in Project Outreach Programmes in schools and other public Institutions
Contribute accurate and up to date project content to the organisation’s website and other mass media.
Communication directly with the Project Manager regarding project activities amongst others.
Education : B.Sc. in Development Studies / Project Management; Knowledge in forestry and a certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation is an added advantage.
Language : Fluent in English (both speaking and writing) and Bemba / Lamba
Experience : Preferably3 years’ relevant work experience in ther Development sector with the ability to develop monitoring systems for project implementation
Skills : Excellent coordination, training and communication skills
Strong and comfortable working in the field with the local community
Be willing to relocate and live in Katanino, Masaiti District.
Implement best practices in day to day project activities
Demonstrate leadership within the project team and show own initiative
Appropriate and frequent reporting of project activities in full transparency and integrity and being coachable for improvement
Ensure training and extension services towards the local community are up to standards and timely.
Technical advisor ensuring a good partnership with all stakeholders to guarantee project outputs
Lead the collection of quantitative & qualitative field data (socio-economic data, forest inventory / vegetation survey, GPS coordinates, etc.).
Facilitate consultancies, project visits and other services on behalf of WeForest / third parties for scientific studies & analysis.
Not engaging the organization legally or financially beyond agreed terms.
Handling internal information and data as confidential.
Assist with Outreach programmes, meetings, workshops, Expos and other events
Coordinate safe and clean keeping of office and other WeForest equipment.
Ensure a safe environment for project staff and the local community during implementation of project activities.
Full-time up to a maximum of 44 hours per week. Working Monday through Saturday morning, hours will vary depending on project needs and flexibility is essential.
Extensive travelling in the project area. Applicant has to be willing to reside in remote areas part-time.
Fixed term one year contract, with potential to extend to a two year contract subject to performance and availability.
A three months’ probation period is included in the contract.
Based close to Katanino forest reserve, where the Project office is being established.
Remuneration based on experience and professional qualifications.
